FAQs

Q: How do I know if my plumbing system will accept flushable wipes?

A: Nolla wipes conform to INDA GD4 flushability standards, meaning that they are safe for the vast majority of home plumbing, sewer, and water treatment systems.

However, if you are uncertain about your plumbing system or use a septic system, we strongly recommend verifying before flushing, or disposing in a trash can to ensure no damage.

Q: Are Nolla wipes biodegradable?

A: Yes! As the introduction of long-lasting plastics has become an increasing concern in our times and for future generations, Nolla wipes use 100% plastic-free sheets that are independently certified to biodegrade in sewer, soil and marine conditions.

Q: Are Nolla wipes safe for sensitive skin?

A: Absolutely! Nolla wipes are free from any alcohols or harsh chemicals that are known to cause skin irritation, and are infused with soothing Vitamin E and Aloe. They have been independently tested for adverse dermatological effects, and received the best possible rating of “Negligible”, the same standard that baby products are held to.

However, our wipes are only for external use, and should not be used on broken skin. On the off chance that any irritation does occur, discontinue use immediately.

Q: I soaked Nolla wipes in water, why didn’t they disintegrate?

A: Industry-accepted flushability standards are based on the ability of toilet paper and wipes to travel through pipes and sewers in moving water. The key risks posed by non-flushable wipes are due to their tendency to clog and build up downstream, which is why Nolla wipes have been independently tested and certified to safely break down under these conditions.

Additionally, the unique spunlace, nonwoven sheets used to make Nolla wipes are designed to break down by the individual fibers unraveling, meaning that they are strong enough not to tear while being used, but will effectively break down without building up and causing clogs in toilets, pipes, pumps and sewer systems.

Q: Why are Nolla wipes thinner than some other products I’ve used?

A: The unique plastic-free and biodegradable sheets used in Nolla wipes are designed for softness and high tear-resistance during use, while ensuring the absolute highest standard of flushability and biodegradability.

In comparison, baby wipes and non-flushables typically contain plastics and are intended for trash cans without concern for safety in water systems. Other flushable wipes often sacrifice performance when flushed and the speed of biodegradability compared to Nolla wipes.
